Case Study - Vehicle Procurement Services

Capital IT and WEB were contracted with the task in May 2004 of doing a ground up web site build for VPS - the web site needed to be visually appealing, easily navigable by it's users, very fast loading and it needed a database back end built to house both retail and business client information, fleet car details and a log of all contacts between VPS and their valued clients.

First we got the front end up to scratch, using the VPS logo and business colours. We opted for a fast loading CSS based menu system and optimised images for the header section. There were a number of web forms required for clients to enter information, so these were made as simple as possible. The next step would be to build the database back end.

Once a potential client has entered their details on the VPS site, their details are emailed to VPS, as well as entered into a database. The staff at VPS can then log into their client management system and view / edit and add client details. Fleet cars can be added for business clients. VPS staff can also log client contacts, and our system will automatically email them once it's time to contact the client again.

Our system sends out an automated email at the end of every month to each fleet car driver in the database asking them to log in and record how many kilometres their vehicle has done in the month and what their running costs have been. This enables VPS to determine how fleet cars are being treated and work out what is happening right across the fleet at all times.
